When we talk about Dominican Republic, the first image we have is a wonderful beach with white thin sand, palm trees, and calm, clear, blue water, where you can relax while enjoying the sun and a cold drink in one of the many Republic Dominican Villas. Santo Domingo is the best place to start your trip. The capital and the largest city in the country was the first seat of European colonial rule in the Americas. Its buildings and stone walls, raised on the 16th century, are considered Humanity Patrimony since 1990. This is also the best place to enjoy the Dominican nights. Visit the La Bodega club and mingle with other tourists and the most famous Merengue musicians.
If you feel like doing a boat trip, go straight to the Saona Island. The place is famous for being the choice of many film directors and advertisers when they are looking for the perfect desert island setting. There you can also find many species of tropical birds and fish, as well as other marine animals. Try snorkeling there; you will certainly not regret it! The tropical waters of Samana bay are also perfect for the wild life lovers. During the mating season, between January and March, you can easily watch the whales that come from Norway to find partners.
Another place you cannot miss is Punta Cana. The beach is exactly what you have always been dreaming about. The turquoise sea shares the scenery with the golden sand, palm trees and a happy, receptive people. Punta Cana is also well-known by the touristic infrastructure. On the beach edge, there are some of the most popular Dominican Republic villas and hotels.
On the other extremity of the island, we find Puerto Plata. Although its beaches are not so paradisiacal as Punta Cana, the place located at the Atlantic side of the country is the right choice for those who are looking for a perfect windsurf spot and young people. And if you are interested in the production of the most famous Caribbean beverage, the Brugal Rum Factory offers a multilingual free tour.
